Thanks for the thoughtful response Alex! Interesting concepts—the idea of paying for our media is definitely something we need to consider as the current system is definitely problematic. Where and how that media is paid for is the sticking point. Ev Boyle (USC) mentioned an interesting anecdote in his study saying that the publicly funded media covered candidates in a much more balanced way. I’ll do my best to lay out possible solutions in my followup.
